43rd UNESCO Heritage Site of India: Moidams of Assam

• The Moidams of Assam, the Mound-Burial System of the Ahom Dynasty, have been included in the cultural category of the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. It is the 43rd site in India to be included in UNESCO's World Heritage Site list.
  असम के मोइदाम, अहोम राजवंश की माउंड-दफन प्रणाली को यूनेस्को की विश्व धरोहर स्थल सूची की सांस्कृतिक श्रेणी में शामिल किया गया है। यह यूनेस्को की विश्व धरोहर स्थल सूची में शामिल होने वाला भारत का 43वां स्थल है।
• The Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, gave this information on 26 July 2024.
  केंद्रीय संस्कृति एवं पर्यटन मंत्री गजेंद्र सिंह शेखावत ने 26 जुलाई 2024 को यह जानकारी दी।
• The decision to include the Moidam of Assam was taken at the 46th session of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO)'s World Heritage Committee.
  असम के मोइदाम को शामिल करने का निर्णय संयुक्त राष्ट्र शैक्षिक वैज्ञानिक और सांस्कृतिक संगठन (यूनेस्को) की विश्व धरोहर समिति के 46वें सत्र में लिया गया।
• The UNESCO World Heritage Committee session is being held for the first time in India at New Delhi from 21st to 31st July 2024.
  यूनेस्को विश्व धरोहर समिति का सत्र भारत में पहली बार 21 से 31 जुलाई 2024 तक नई दिल्ली में आयोजित किया जा रहा है।

3rd site of Assam to be included in UNESCO's Heritage List

• The Moidams of Assam-the Mound-Burial System of the Ahom Dynasty is the third site in Assam and North East to be included in UNESCO's World Heritage List and the first in the cultural category.
  असम का मोइदाम- अहोम राजवंश की टीला-दफन प्रणाली यूनेस्को की विश्व विरासत सूची में शामिल होने वाला असम और उत्तर पूर्व का तीसरा स्थल और सांस्कृतिक श्रेणी में पहला है।
• Kaziranga National Park of Assam and Manas Wildlife Sanctuary were included in the UNESCO list in 1985 under the Natural category.
  असम के काजीरंगा राष्ट्रीय उद्यान और मानस वन्यजीव अभयारण्य को 1985 में प्राकृतिक श्रेणी के तहत यूनेस्को सूची में शामिल किया गया था।

• The UNESCO World Heritage Sites categorises heritage into Cultural, Natural, and Mixed categories.

• Italy has the most sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List, with 59, followed by China, with 57 sites.
  यूनेस्को की विश्व धरोहर सूची में सबसे अधिक 59 स्थल इटली के हैं, इसके बाद 57 स्थलों के साथ चीन का स्थान है।
• India is sixth with 43 sites.

• A total of 13 Heritage Sites have been listed in India within a Decade

• Ajanta Cave, Ellora Cave (both Maharashtra), the Taj Mahal in Agra, and the Agra Fort in Uttar Pradesh were the first Indian sites to be included in UNESCO's list in 1983.
